Directorate: People ServicesHours:32 hours a week Contract Type: Permanent Location: The Council House Derby City Council is an innovative and forward-thinking Council, committed to developing practical and proportionate ways of undertaking adult social care assessments, support plans and interventions, enabling the residents of Derby to achieve identified outcomes. An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Community Support (South) Team. The team support adults from 18+ years with a wide range of primary support needs in relation to age and frailty, physical disability, learning disability, autism, sensory and mental health support needs. The team are looking to recruit an experienced Social Worker to join our friendly and hardworking team. The successful candidate will be required to carry out social care assessments in partnership with customers and carers, developing person-centred support plans, utilising a strength-based approach to meet needs as defined by the Care Act (2014). In this role you will undertake safeguarding investigations and enquiries, chair multidisciplinary strategy meetings and work collaboratively to develop safety plans. These will be underpinned by the principles of making safeguarding personal (MSP), ensuring risk is managed proportionately and effectively. Alongside managing your own case load, you will be required to work on a rotational basis as the duty Social Worker for the team, responding to urgent care enquiries as they arise. About you You will be a qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England. We are looking for an experienced and motivated Social Worker, committed to delivering high-quality social work practice in adult social care. You will need to have excellent communication skills, with the confidence and skill to negotiate and challenge appropriately, advocating and promoting positive outcomes for customers. The successful candidate will need to be organised and skilled in managing competing demands and priorities. You will need to have a sound understanding and experience in working with the Care Act (2014) and Mental Capacity Act (2005), utilising a strength-based approach in supporting customers and carers. You will be able to work and manage a case load with increasing autonomy alongside working as part of a team.
