Job Title: Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical Bias)
Reporting to: Maintenance Shift Leaders
We are looking for a proactive and skilled Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician (Mechanical Bias) to join our engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, reliability, and efficiency of our production equipment and facilities.
You will play a key role in diagnosing and repairing breakdowns, carrying out planned preventative maintenance, and contributing to continuous improvement projects across the site.
This is a full-time, permanent position, working shifts on a rotational basis (day and back shift). Salary Starting from £40,000 per annum, dependant on the experience.
About the Role:Key responsibilities in this role will include:
* Carry out reactive and planned maintenance on a wide range of machinery and equipment.
* Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and implement effective solutions.
* Conduct routine inspections, adjustments, and servicing to minimise downtime.
* Support installation, commissioning, and modification of plant equipment.
* Work closely with production teams to ensure equipment is safe, reliable, and efficient.
* Maintain accurate maintenance records using our CMMS and comply with health & safety standards.
About you:
The ideal candidate will have
* Time-served apprenticeship or recognised engineering qualification in Mechanical Engineering (with electrical knowledge).
* Proven experience in a multi-skilled maintenance role, ideally within manufacturing or production.
* Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills (steam systems, pneumatics, valves, pumps, gearboxes etc.).
* Basic electrical knowledge (motors, sensors, PLC awareness).
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and manuals.
* Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive, hands-on approach.
* Good communication and teamwork skills.
