Due to our continued growth we are now recruiting for a Chassis Systems Engineer – Longitudinal Function to be based at our customer’s site in Gaydon.

Our Embedded Systems Solutions department (ESS) encompasses all activities outlined under the Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) process framework, including systems engineering, software engineering, coding, and all levels of functional testing. Beyond core development, ESS also integrates critical supporting processes such as project management, risk assessment, functional safety, and cybersecurity, ensuring compliance with ASPICE standards and delivering reliable, secure, and high-quality embedded systems & solutions.

The Role:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient Longitudinal Function Engineer to support the development and lifecycle documentation of longitudinal control systems within the Chassis Engineering domain. This role bridges the gap between software systems development and structured documentation, ensuring that longitudinal functions—such as braking, acceleration, and cruise control—are accurately captured, traceable, and compliant with engineering and safety standards.

You will play a key role in translating system behaviour and architecture into clear, maintainable documentation that supports cross-functional development, validation, and regulatory compliance.

Area of Responsibility

1. Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for longitudinal chassis functions (., brake blending, torque control, adaptive cruise, stop & go)
2. Collaborate with software and systems engineers to capture system architecture, control logic, and interface definitions
3. Ensure documentation aligns with functional safety standards (., ISO 26262), ASPICE, and internal quality processes
4. Maintain traceability between requirements, design, implementation, and validation using tools like DOORS, Polarion, or equivalent
5. Support change management and version control of documentation throughout the development lifecycle
6. Participate in design and peer reviews to ensure documentation completeness and technical accuracy
7. Interface with cross-functional teams including calibration, integration, and vehicle dynamics to ensure alignment
8. Contribute to the development of documentation templates, guidelines, and best practices for chassis systems

Key Experience

9. Bachelor’s degree in Automotive Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
10. Strong experience in software systems development or documentation within chassis or motion control systems
11. Strong understanding of longitudinal vehicle dynamics and control systems (., braking, propulsion, cruise control)
12. Experience with documentation and requirements management tools (., IBM DOORS, Polarion, JIRA)
13. Familiarity with embedded software architecture and vehicle communication protocols (., CAN, LIN, FlexRay)
14. Excellent technical writing and communication skills
15. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary engineering environment

Preferred Skills

16. Master’s degree or equivalent experience in vehicle systems or control engineering
17. Experience with model-based development (., MATLAB/Simulink)
18. Knowledge of safety-critical development standards (ISO 26262, ASPICE)
19. Exposure to Agile or V-model development methodologies
20. Experience working with OEMs or Tier 1 suppliers in chassis or ADAS domains

In return for bringing your expertise to our business we offer a competitive salary along with excellent benefits including:
