The Role: SEN Learning Support Assistant
Location: Maidenhead
Pay: £108 per day
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:45pm (term time only)
Start Date: September 2026
Interviews & Trial Days: July–August 2026
This specialist SEMH provision supports pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs, often linked to trauma, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), anxiety, behavioural dysregulation, low self-esteem, school refusal, and safeguarding concerns.
Many students require structured support to improve emotional resilience, communication, self-regulation, and academic attainment. The school uses trauma-informed, restorative, and therapeutic approaches to help pupils re-engage positively with education and everyday life.
This role is ideal for graduates who are calm, reflective, resilient, and passionate about supporting vulnerable young people through therapeutic and relationship-led practice.
Your Experience Will Include:
1. Supporting pupils with emotional regulation, confidence, and social interaction
2. Assisting staff with behaviour support and therapeutic intervention strategies
3. Working 1:1 and in small groups to improve engagement and attainment
4. Supporting pupils with sensory, emotional, and behavioural needs
5. Encouraging participation in sport, cooking, creative arts, and life-skills activities
6. Helping students develop coping mechanisms, routines, and independence
7. Supporting restorative conversations and positive conflict resolution
8. Gaining experience in trauma-informed practice, safeguarding, and SEMH intervention
9. Learning how therapeutic approaches are used within specialist education settings
