Ensure engagement in PLACE standards to achieve a consistently high score for each inspection, and ensure issues identified are remedied with lessons learned applied.
Responsible for managing pest control, post, laundry and linen, waste management, grounds and gardens, and acting as the relief manager for covering travel transport when the manager is on leave.
Work closely across the organisation's management to ensure understanding and compliance with environmental legislation and trust policy, implementing best practices. Ensure waste and environmental issues are properly considered with stakeholder communication in all new works, projects, developments, or areas of non-compliance.
Liaise with the Environment Agency, Councils, and other statutory authorities regarding waste management issues.
Manage and liaise with the Trust's waste contractors.
Carry out Duty of Care audits both externally and internally.
Investigate and report waste incidents.
Develop waste and recycling opportunities in collaboration with procurement and external agencies.
Manage the Trust-wide waste disposal contract provision.
Provide key performance indicators for the disposal contract.
Achieve waste reduction targets in line with Department of Health guidance.
Ensure the Trust follows best practices according to the Department of Health's "Health Technical Memorandum 07-01" and other relevant legislation.
Ensure appropriate management of resources and budgets.
Use industry best practices, benchmarking data, and other metrics to ensure value for money, with cost improvement and efficiency plans in place.
Support annual and monthly budget setting with relevant information.
Contribute to cost improvement initiatives and develop business cases for investments.
Handle all budgeting responsibilities for services under your sphere.
Ensure compliance with Trust Standing Financial Instructions (SFI's).
Support applications for grants or financial schemes to fund sustainability initiatives, presenting proposals and business cases to management.
The post-holder will aim to exceed local and national priorities to ensure high-quality patient experience through robust auditing, feedback analysis, and continuous improvement actions in collaboration with FM management.

* Overseeing the Post Room
The post involves leading a programme of Patient Environment inspections, ensuring maximum scores in PLACE and cleanliness standards.
The post holder will establish clear KPIs for their services, deputise for the Head of Facilities, and be the subject matter expert for Waste Management.
Leading the delivery of the Trust's Sustainability Green Plan is also a key responsibility.
