About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Balfour Beatty Regional Scotland as a Finance Manager — overseeing a £150M Portfolio of construction project across Scotland.
As an integral part of the construction senior management team, you’ll be at the heart of delivery, partnering closely with senior project leaders and influencing decisions that genuinely matter. You will be a key interface with stakeholders including project management, internal business partners, Finance Managers, shared services and Internal/External Auditors
Expectation is that you would be based in head office at EuroCentral or on sites with project teams 60% ofthe week, with some flexible working and occasional travel.
What you'll be doing
* Develop and manage budgets for construction sector projects acrossScotland ensuring accurate cost estimations and tracking expenditures against approvedbudgets.
* Implementcostcontrolmeasurestooptimizeprojectexpenseswithoutcompromisingquality,constantlyseekingopportunitiesforcostsavingsandefficiencyimprovements.
* Prepare and present financial reports to senior management, providinginsights into project performance, cost trends, KPI’s and overall financial health.
* Manage period end reporting cycles.
* Ensure compliance with Gated Business Lifecycle.
* Monitor cash flow and liquidity, ensuring timely payments to vendors,subcontractors, and other stakeholders to maintain smooth project operations.
* Identify financial risks and implement strategies to mitigate them, ensuringcompliance with financial regulations and industry standards.
* Conduct financial forecasting and analysis to support decision-making,project future financial trends, and assess potential impacts on the business.
* Stay informed about market trends, economic indicators, and industrybenchmarks, utilizing this information to make informed financial decisions and adaptfinancial strategies accordingly.
* Develop and maintain financial models to evaluate the financial viabilityof potential projects, incorporating various factors such as construction costs, financingoptions, and market trends.
* Expect a good level of commercial understanding and experience of NEC option A, C and Econtracts would be advantageous.
* Ledger Management including Reconciliations, journals and validation of Revenue and profitreported.
* Auditing and Compliance: Coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring compliance withaccounting principles, tax regulations, and other financial standards.
* Assist in capital planning and investment decisions, evaluating the financialfeasibility of tenders, net debt and ad hoc initiatives.
* Collaborate with BB tax professionals to develop tax strategies and ensurecompliance with tax regulations, optimizing the company's overall tax position.
* Perform ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as needed, addressingspecific inquiries from senior management or stakeholders and contributing to informeddecision-making
Who we're looking for
* Experience in operating at a similar level as part of a project team
* Experience in contracting would be an advantage
* Individual would be ACCA, CIMA or ICAS qualified
