Synodical Secretary
Following the retirement of the Revd Stephen Trott a new Synodical Secretary is needed.
The Synodical Secretary shall be admitted by the Prolocutor on the nomination of the President. S/ He shall be a person eligible for election to, but need not be a member of the Convocation ; [that is, someone who is beneficed, licensed or has permission to officiate in a diocese in the Province of Canterbury]. Role Description
* T o attend sittings of the General Synod and receive papers of meetings of the Business Committee .
* To attend meetings of the House of Clergy and House Standing Committee.
* To support the Prolocutor in running the meetings of the Convocation.
* To minute the meetings of Convocation and maintain the Chronicle of Convocation
* To maintain close contact with and receive Advice from the Registrar of the Convocation
* To advise the President and the Prolocutor on the standing orders and conduct of meetings of the Convocation.
Person Specification
* A knowledge of the Canon law of the Church of England.
* A firm grasp of the Standing Orders of the House of Clergy and the Convocation of Canterbury.
* Minute taking and excellent writing skills .
* A person able to offer good advice in sometimes complex circumstances .
* A self-starter who will proactively help the Prolocutor anticipate matters requiring attention.
This role is voluntary.
