Job Description:
AFC Wimbledon Women are looking to recruit a dedicated, self-motivated, and knowledgeable individual to work within the progressive world of women’s football at Tier 3, supporting elite female footballers.
We are seeking Chartered Physiotherapists, Sports Therapists, or Sports Rehabilitators to join our Medical department. The Medical Therapist plays a vital role in the long-term vision of AFC Wimbledon Women.
The successful candidate will work within a Tier 3 women’s football club, providing physiotherapy and rehabilitation services for all women’s team players, including occasional involvement with pathway players.
Applicants should be prepared to work various hours, including weekend matches, midweek sessions, and occasional overnight stays. This is an excellent opportunity for proactive individuals eager to work in football, with chances for internal CPD, staying current with literature, understanding scope of practice, and enhancing practical skills.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide emergency first aid during training sessions and matches
* Conduct clinical assessments of injured players before games
* Maintain detailed injury and treatment records and upload them to our platform
* Communicate regularly with coaches, strength and conditioning staff, and players regarding injuries and player availability
* Participate in in-house CPD sessions
* Support the development of junior therapists within the women’s pathway
* Ensure compliance with club policies, including health & safety, equality, safeguarding, and confidentiality
Minimum qualifications include:
* BSc degree in Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy, or Sports Rehabilitation
* HCPC/BASRaT/SST registration
* In-date EMFA qualification (and commitment to annual reaccreditation)
* Willingness to work with high-level athletes, managing injuries and planning rehabilitation
* Medical insurance suitable for treating semi-professional women’s footballers
* The ability to play or participate in football at a high level
Preferred qualification:
* MSc in Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy, or Sports Rehabilitation
