This is a field‑based role working across sites in the Luton, Bedfordshire area, and is well‑suited to candidates based in Luton, Bedfordshire, Milton Keynes or Northampton who are within a comfortable commuting distance.
The role
As a Mobile HGV Technician, you’ll deliver first-class servicing, maintenance, and repairs on heavy goods vehicles and specialist fire service equipment to MOT and operational standards.
Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:
1. Carry out servicing, maintenance, and repairs on HGVs, LGVs, and fire service modules.
2. Diagnose faults using recognised test procedures, including road testing where required.
3. Ensure compliance with Health and Safety and ISO standards.
4. Record work progress accurately using company IT systems and liaise with the managed service centre and manage / schedule you own workload
5. Travel to locations within your specified work area to deliver mobile maintenance support, with occasional duties in our Leicestershire based workshop.

Please note that the successful candidate will be required to pass a targeted medical questionnaire and medical examination as a condition of employment for this role.
This is a full-time role (40 hours per week) that involves working from Fire Stations across Luton, Bedfordshire, supporting the New Dimension programme responsible for maintaining specialist emergency vehicles and equipment. We are ideally seeking a candidate based within a commutable distance of the wider Luton area, which could include Luton, Bedfordshire, Milton Keynes or Northampton. The role will also include occasional travel to our Bardon Hill workshop near Coalville, Leicestershire for team meetings.
Essential experience of the Mobile HGV Technician:
11. Proven experience in servicing, maintaining, and repairing HGVs/LGVs and specialist fire service equipment.
12. Hands-on knowledge of hydraulic systems, including repair and testing.
13. Strong attention to detail in fault diagnosis and compliance documentation.
14. Ability to work independently
15. Experience in vehicle electrical diagnostics (desirable).
Qualifications for the Mobile HGV Technician:
16. NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in servicing and repair of HGVs/LGVs to MOT standard.
17. Full UK Class C driving licence.
