The primary responsibility of the NIS P&D Project Management, Associate Director is to develop and deliver the Non-Interventional Studies (NIS) Project Plan and support managing resources (External Project Expenditure (EPE)/Internal Project Expenditure (IPE)) within their designated therapy area (TA). These studies are aligned with the integrated evidence plans across both the Research & Development (R&D) and marketed product portfolios. The role involves close collaboration with functional team members across the NIS portfolio, such as the Global Real-World Evidence & Health Outcomes (GRWE&HO), Epidemiology (EPI), Patient Centered Outcomes (PCO), Real-world Data & Analytics (RWD&A) scientists and the NIS P&D Study Delivery Leads & Associates, along with Pipeline Project Management, Medical Project Management, Resource Management, Finance and others to drive discipline to NIS planning, execution and resource management.
The NIS P&D Project Management, Associate Director is responsible for:
1. Developing and proactively delivering aligned, high-quality NIS Project Plans across assigned asset projects in partnership with relevant scientific and operational teams.
2. Maintaining an accurate integrated plan schedule in Planisware, understanding the importance of data accuracy, and interpreting data to inform decisions.
3. Using established project schedules to forecast costs (EPE) and resources (IPE).
4. Ensuring data quality and schedule compliance with business rules and standards.
5. Collaborating with functional lines to ensure work packages reflect scheduled activities.
6. Partnering with project stakeholders to ensure schedule alignment with strategy and advising on changes, constraints, and risks.
7. Contributing to scenario planning and developing alternative schedules for portfolio decision-making.
8. Designing scenarios and recommending alternatives to functional teams.
9. Supporting status report development across project control areas: scope and schedule.
10. Identifying and managing risks within project schedules and translating them into plans.
11. Leading in resource management and acting as Subject Matter Expert in planning, cost, and resourcing.
12. Preparing stakeholder management documents such as Gantt reports, stakeholder maps, and communication plans.
13. Demonstrating interpersonal skills and management knowledge within the R&D environment.
14. Staying informed about project planning practices within GSK and the pharmaceutical industry.
15. Mentoring and coaching NIS Planning & Delivery staff, potentially line managing project managers or students.
The role requires a seasoned project management professional with a sense of urgency, organizational credibility, and understanding of pharmaceutical R&D operations. Key competencies include leadership, influencing, negotiation, change management, resilience, continuous learning, strategic translation, stakeholder management, independence, proactive work, budgeting, and financial acumen.
Basic Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in project management, business, science, or finance.
* At least 7 years of experience in NIS, clinical operations, or related research, with 2+ years in project management.
* 2+ years of industry R&D operational experience.
* 2+ years using project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Planisware).
* Knowledge of project management methodologies and tools.
* Understanding of project, data, and process navigation in a matrix organization.
* Proven decision-making ability that benefits the organization as a whole.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Advanced degree (MS, PhD, PharmD).
* Professional Project Management (PMP) Certification.
* Knowledge of Non-Interventional Studies (NIS).
* Experience identifying issues impacting clinical programs and contributing to solutions.
* Leadership experience in matrix and line environments, delivering projects and managing change.
