Primary Teaching Assistant
We are seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and experienced Primary Teaching Assistant to join our welcoming and supportive primary school in Chesterfield.
The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers to support pupils’ learning, development, and wellbeing across the primary age range. This is an excellent opportunity for a committed individual who is passionate about helping children achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
1. Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons.
2. Work with individual pupils and small groups to reinforce learning objectives.
3. Provide additional support for pupils with varying educational needs.
4. Assist in the preparation of classroom resources and learning activities.
5. Promote positive behaviour and support the school’s safeguarding policies.
6. Help create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
7. Support pupils during break times, educational visits, and school activities where required.
Essential Requirements
8. Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant within a UK primary school.
9. Good understanding of the UK National Curriculum.
10. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
11. Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
12. A patient, caring, and proactive approach to supporting children.
13. Enhanced DBS Certificate on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
14. Right to work in the UK.
Desirable Requirements
15. Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
16. Experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
17. Experience delivering intervention programmes in literacy and numeracy.
18. First Aid qualification.
