Overview
Locum Consultant in Inherited Metabolic Medicine for adults. Based at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. An exciting opportunity for an experienced specialist metabolic physician and biochemist to contribute to a national service for adults with Inherited Metabolic Disorders (IMD).
The Scottish IMD service is nationally commissioned for people of all ages with IMDs. The successful candidate will provide outpatient care and advice for adults with IMD and their families, primarily within SE, East and NE Scotland, with close collaboration with colleagues based in Glasgow.
The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh is a world-recognised centre for medical care, research and teaching, with extensive laboratory services including Metabolic Biochemistry and Clinical and Molecular Genetics. The Scottish IMD service provides direct care for adults throughout Scotland via outreach clinics, virtual consultations and telephone advice to families and to health, education and social care professionals.
Responsibilities
* Provide outpatient care and advice for adults with Inherited Metabolic Disorders (IMD) and their families.
* Contribute to the development and delivery of a national IMD service and outreach activities (outreach clinics, virtual consultations, telephone advice).
* Collaborate with metabolic biochemistry, clinical genetics and other subspecialties as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Qualifications
* Full GMC registration and a license to practise.
* UK-trained candidates should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT in Clinical Biochemistry and Metabolic Medicine or eligibility for specialist registration (CESR) or be within six months of confirmed entry from the date of interview.
* Postgraduate qualification (MRCP or equivalent).
* Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent qualifications and training.
