Main duties of the job
We are looking for a friendly, dynamic and forward‑thinking radiographer to join our radiotherapy team. You will have excellent communication and team‑working skills and be ready to help run a busy unit in a friendly, modern radiotherapy department.
The role involves the treatment of radiotherapy patients on one of our linear accelerators at our main site at the General. There is also the expectation to rotate through our satellite centre in Basingstoke but travel time and costs will be reimbursed. Other areas of rotational work include pre‑treatment, DXR and in our new Brachytherapy suite. Additional opportunities are available in TBI and SABR, and we provide state‑of‑the‑art patient‑centred care. We are a regional sarcoma centre, a tertiary referral centre for neuro‑oncology (delivering SRS/T) and the only centre in the country delivering intra‑operative radiotherapy (IOERT) for pancreatic and GI tumours. We are the first centre in the UK to have Exactrac Dynamic in clinical use on 3 of our 7 linacs providing sub‑millimetre correction through stereoscopic imaging with 6 degrees of freedom correction. Our other linacs and 3 CTs (1 with 4DCT acquisition) have Align RT allowing thermal and surface‑guided set up and tracking.
Job responsibilities
* Deliver radiotherapy treatment using available equipment under the supervision of Band 6 radiographers.
* Calculate and record radiotherapy treatments accurately and maintain written records.
* Be responsible for the well‑being and care of patients during radiotherapy.
* Maintain all treatment records to department standards.
* Work 7.5‑hour shifts between 0700 and 2000 (Monday–Friday) and provide on‑call services for MSCC patients on weekends.
* Engage in continuing professional development through in‑house training courses, external courses, supervision sessions, peer‑support meetings and staff appraisal.
Person Specification
Enthusiastic individuals with a Degree in Therapeutic Radiography or a Diploma from the College of Radiographers, state registration with the HCPC, and excellent written and verbal English language skills.
Qualifications / Training Required
* Degree in Therapeutic Radiography or Diploma from the College of Radiographers.
* State Registration with the HCPC.
* Further study or training courses.
Previous or relevant experience necessary
* Evidence of team working.
* Experience with a wide variety of radiotherapy techniques and equipment.
