JOB TITLE: Gate Automation/Service Engineer ROLE OVERVIEW for a Gate Automation/Service Engineer: Gate Control Ltd is seeking an experienced Gate Automation Engineer/Service Engineer to join its service and maintenance division. This role is aligned with Door & Hardware Federation (DHF) guidance, including DHF Code of Practice for Powered Gates and Traffic Barriers, and current UK safety legislation. The successful candidate will be responsible for servicing, fault diagnosis, repair, and safety compliance of automated gate systems, barriers, bollards, and associated equipment. Knowledge of roller shutters would be advantageous. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES for a Gate Automation/Service Engineer: Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive service works in accordance with DHF guidance, manufacturer instructions, and company procedures. Service, maintain and fault find on systems including automated gates, automatic barriers, rising and fixed bollards. Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults safely and efficiently. Work on systems including those manufactured by DEA, BFT, FAAC, NICE, BENINCA, and SEA. I nspect, test, and verify safety devices. Carry out force testing, risk assessments, and safety evaluations in line with DHF guidance and relevant British and European Standards. Identify non-compliant or unsafe systems and report findings in accordance with company and DHF procedures. Complete service reports, force test records, risk assessments, and job documentation accurately. Communicate professionally with customers, site managers, and colleagues. Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety legislation, including safe systems of work. Participate in an out-of-hours emergency call-out rota when required. Ad-hoc duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE and SKILLS REQUIRED ECS or CSCS card Full UK driving licence and Right to Work in the UK Proven experience as a gate automation/service engineer Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals Good understanding of gate safety principles, force limitation, and safe operation Background knowledge of roller shutters or industrial doors (preferred) Strong fault finding and problem solving skills Willingness to complete DHF-approved training courses where required Ability to communicate professionally with a customer-focused approach REMUNERATION AND BENEFITS Salary: £32,000 to £36,000 (depending on experience) Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 07:30 to 16:30 with overtime opportunities What we Offer: Company van, fuel card, tools, and uniform Holidays: 20 days plus bank holidays Pension: Auto enrolment pension scheme
