Job Title:
Car Audio & Vehicle Technology Installation Technician
Job Purpose:
To install, upgrade, and maintain high-quality in-car audio systems, security devices, trackers, dashcams, parking sensors, and other vehicle technology products. The role requires precision, technical expertise, and a customer-focused approach to deliver industry-leading installations that enhance vehicle performance, safety, and user experience.
Key Responsibilities:
* Install and upgrade car audio systems, speakers, subwoofers, amplifiers, and head units.
* Fit and configure vehicle security systems including alarms, immobilisers, and GPS trackers.
* Install dashcams, parking sensors, reversing cameras, and driver assistance systems.
* Carry out wiring, soldering, and electrical fault diagnosis to a professional standard.
* Ensure all installations are completed neatly, safely, and in line with manufacturer guidelines.
* Liaise with customers to understand requirements and provide technical advice on suitable products.
* Perform testing and calibration to guarantee product functionality before handover.
* Maintain accurate records of installations, stock used, and job sheets.
* Keep up to date with the latest vehicle electronics and installation methods.
* Adhere to health & safety standards and ensure compliance with data protection/security when handling tracker systems.
Skills & Experience Required:
* Proven experience in car audio and/or vehicle electronics installation.
* Strong knowledge of 12v/24v vehicle electrics, wiring, and diagnostics.
* Hands-on experience with trackers, dashcams, alarms, and parking aids.
* Ability to read wiring diagrams and use diagnostic tools.
* Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
* Good customer service and communication skills.
* Full UK driving licence (clean preferred).
Desirable (but not essential):
* MECP/IMI or equivalent industry certifications.
* Experience with high-end or custom audio system builds (e.g., soundproofing, custom enclosures).
* Familiarity with CANBUS systems and vehicle coding.
* Previous work in a dealership or specialist aftermarket installation centre.
