The Opportunity:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Sales and Purchase Supervisor to join our finance team on a full-time basis. Based on-site in Esh Winning and reporting directly to the Financial Controller, this role is essential to ensuring accurate management across all ledgers, maintaining strong financial relationships, and supporting healthy cash flow.
You will lead a small team and work closely with internal departments and external stakeholders to resolve queries, manage credit control processes, and ensure compliance with financial policies. The role includes direct management of a team of Purchase Ledger Clerks.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales Ledger Management
1. Oversee the processing of sales invoices, receipts, and payments
2. Ensure timely and accurate recording of customer transactions
3. Monitor outstanding debts and manage credit control processes
Purchase Ledger Management
4. Supervise the processing of supplier invoices, payments, and credit notes
5. Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies
6. Manage payment runs and ensure compliance with payment terms
7. Manage and support a team of Purchase Ledger Clerks
Team Supervision
8. Lead and support the ledger team, providing training and guidance
9. Allocate tasks and ensure deadlines are met
10. Act as the point of escalation for complex queries or issues
Compliance and Process Improvement
11. Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies
12. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
What We’re Looking For:
13. Experience in credit control, accounts receivable, or ledger supervision
14. Strong knowledge of accounting principles and ledger management
15. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel
16. Knowledge of bank reconciliations and cash allocation postings
17. Effective communication and leadership skills
18. High attention to detail and accuracy
19. Excellent organisational and time management skills
20. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
21. GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics
22. An aptitude for IT and a process improvement mindset
