We are working with a school in central Bristol that is seeking an experienced Learning Support Assistant to join their support staff team in supporting a Year 5 student with an ASD diagnosis.
Responsibilities include:
1. Forming positive relationships and responding to the child's individual needs.
2. Supporting the child's integration and participation in class activities.
3. Breaking down tasks to make them accessible.
4. Liaising with outside agencies regarding support programmes.
5. Maintaining accurate records of achievements, progress, or concerns.
6. Building trusting relationships with parents and carers.
7. Collaborating with the class teacher, SENDCO, and the year group team.
8. Supporting the pupil during lunchtime and afternoon learning sessions.
About you:
The ideal candidate is confident, caring, and demonstrates recent school-based experience, particularly in supporting children with additional learning needs. Ability to work as part of a team and use initiative to support learning, behaviour, and programmes outlined in the child's EHCP and Safety Plan is essential. The role involves supporting the pupil during lunchtimes and in afternoon sessions.
