Responsibilities
* Lead or guide the design and/or a section of the design on projects, delivering technical excellence on bridges.
* Translate structural understanding into effective analyses and designs using industry codes and standards (including Eurocodes).
* Collaborate with teams locally and globally to deliver a consistent client experience and quality.
* Oversee analysis of structures and communicate with clients and colleagues in face-to-face meetings where required.
* Support the delivery of innovative and economical solutions for clients.
Candidate specification
Essential
* Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering (BEng/MEng, MSc or equivalent).
* Chartered Engineer (ICE / IStructE).
* Practical design experience in the bridges industry with ability to deliver a nationally consistent client experience and quality.
* Ability to deliver high-quality design documentation including option appraisals, drawings, calculations, reports, specifications and construction documentation.
* Demonstrable experience in bridge analysis, design and assessment with ability to use standard industry software (e.g., Sofistik, RM Bridge, MIDAS, LUSAS, SAM, Staad or similar).
* Commercial and financial awareness with ability to plan and monitor programmes, budgets and resources to meet time and cost constraints.
* Experience and commitment to Health, Safety and Welfare, Safety by Design.
Desirable
* Preparation and review of technical approval documentation for highway and rail structures.
* Experience in managing project teams and technical leadership.
* Experience in identifying, winning and delivering projects including fee proposals and tender submissions.
* Experience with digital delivery tools/workflows (e.g., BIM, parametric design, automation).
* Experience in analysis and design of complex bridges and structures in steel and concrete.
* In-depth understanding of structural behaviours and translating this into effective analyses.
