We have an exciting opportunity for an Outreach Worker with the skills and experience to assess and engage with our service users, ensuring they access the right interventions at the right time, tailored to their needs. The role focuses on engaging with individuals who have a history of rough sleeping and substance misuse in Barnet. Candidates should have experience working with individuals with complex needs and demonstrate a determined approach to support.
Key skills and experience required:
* Strong understanding of substance misuse issues and experience in a similar field
* Effective communication skills with support-requiring individuals
* Experience engaging and providing meaningful support to individuals with severe and multiple unmet needs
* Proactive with excellent time management and prioritization skills
* Knowledge of homelessness issues, benefits system, substance use, mental or physical health, criminal justice, and housing options
* Supportive team player with strong interpersonal skills, able to work in partnership with professionals, agencies, and stakeholders
* Experience supporting people affected by homelessness, mental health, and substance use
* Ability to manage change prioritizing service users' needs
* Understanding of information governance and safeguarding procedures
* Willingness to learn and contribute to team development
About the role:
* Conduct outreach in all weather conditions, including early mornings, nights, and weekends
* Provide screening, assessment, recovery planning, and referrals
* Engage with individuals experiencing rough sleeping and street activity
* Reduce drug and alcohol-related harm
* Promote community and stakeholder involvement
* Collaborate with partner agencies to support access to accommodation, health services, and benefits
* Support social reintegration, recovery, resilience, and self-determination
