Two posts have become available within the Genetic Service for suitably experienced Clinical Scientists to lead the Inherited and Somatic sections of the laboratory. The positions would suit applicants with extensive experience post-HCPC registration gained in an NHS Genomic laboratory service who wish to advance their career as a Senior Clinical Scientist.
Successful applicants will be appointed as Section Leads for either rare and inherited disorders or somatic cancer within the service, dependant on expertise. In addition to a proven scientific and clinical track record as a Clinical Scientist, applicants must have experience of managing, leading and motivating a team of Healthcare Scientists. In addition they must have experience of regulatory compliance and a strong commitment to continuing professional development.
Responsibilities
* Manage the workload and staff of the sections within the laboratory service.
* Lead by example and contribute to the strategic development of laboratory genomics at local and national levels through specialist area expertise.
* Identify, develop and implement innovations that improve the quality and efficiency of the laboratory service.
* Appoint as Section Lead for either rare and inherited disorders or somatic cancer, depending on expertise.
* Ensure regulatory compliance and maintain a strong commitment to continuing professional development within the team.
About the service
The Regional Genetic Service is a large friendly team of Technical, Scientific and Clinical staff who provide a first-class service to patients and families from Tayside and NE Fife and elsewhere in Scotland. The Service offers modern, well equipped facilities situated within Ninewells Hospital and works closely with Pathology, Haematology, Oncology and Clinical Genetics to optimise patient care.

* Hours of work are: 37.0 hours/week. Monday-Friday
