Requirements
The Principal Teacher reports directly to the Head Teacher. Responsibilities include:
* Leading, managing, and setting strategic direction for colleagues
* Curriculum development and quality assurance
* Contributing to school policy development regarding pupil behaviour management
* Managing and guiding colleagues
* Reviewing CPD needs, career development, and performance of colleagues
* Providing advice, support, and guidance to colleagues
* Leading pastoral care and developing related school policies
* Managing and developing pastoral care staff
* Implementing school policies on guidance, pastoral care, assessment, and pupil welfare
* Collaborating with colleagues, parents, external agencies, and other schools
Additional Responsibilities
Key duties include:
* Overseeing classes and quality assurance activities
* Managing the weekly diary in collaboration with the Head Teacher
* Leading referrals and coordinating with external agencies for ASN support
* Driving Numeracy, Mathematics, and STEM initiatives
* Leading Pupil Equity Funding (PEF) planning and implementation
* Monitoring the effectiveness of interventions like SfL, Nurture, and PEF
Qualifications
Applicants must hold a relevant teaching qualification and be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland.
This position is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Successful candidates will need to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check before starting employment. The candidate will bear the cost, which is £59 for a full membership or £18 for existing members.
