Title: Project Engineer
Location: Liverpool (L11)
Salary: Competitive
Shifts: 09:00 – 17:30 (Any 5 out of 7)
Contract Type: Permanent
Our client, a leading discount retailer, is seeking a Project Engineer to join their expanding business on a permanent basis, working across multiple sites in the UK.
Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, you will support the delivery of engineering, automation, and innovation projects by managing day-to-day technical activities, ensuring deadlines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
Key Responsibilities
* Project Management – Deliver projects across automation, engineering, facilities, innovation, and other workstreams from initial planning to completion.
* Full Project Lifecycle Oversight – Manage conceptualisation, planning, execution, and post-implementation stages, ensuring all success criteria are achieved.
* Risk & Issue Management – Identify risks and issues, implement mitigation strategies, and ensure minimal disruption to timelines and quality.
* Resource & Cost Management – Track resources, control costs, and maintain timelines to meet key milestones.
* Cost Estimation & Technical Analysis – Produce cost estimates, prepare management presentations, and conduct technical studies to inform decisions.
* Problem-Solving & Continuous Improvement – Lead root cause analysis, develop solutions, and enhance project management processes.
* Product Performance Testing – Design and conduct product performance tests to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
Skills & Experience Required
* Degree in Engineering or a related field.
* Proven experience in a fast-paced, commercially focused environment with diverse stakeholders—preferably in retail, warehousing, intralogistics, or FMCG.
* Track record of leading and delivering projects, including commissioning and testing.
* Project management experience in facilities, infrastructure, energy, and power projects.
* Strong technical expertise in automation and engineering design.
* Proficient in MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook).
* Skilled in design and visualisation software such as AutoCAD.
Additional Information
* Some UK travel will be required.
* A valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential.
