Head of Procurement
Our client is a leading electronics distribution organisation with a fantastic workplace environment. Due to significant business growth, they are now looking to recruit an experienced Head of Procurement in either the Colchester or Milton Keynes area. (£70-£80K basic + package)
Responsibilities:
· Lead, develop and mentor a high-performing procurement team across two sites (Milton Keynes / Colchester) and assess the potential of a category management approach and practice
· Develop and implement the company's procurement strategy aligned with business goals and market demands
·Ensuring robust supplier relationships with manufacturers, OEM's and logistics partners, focus on cost efficiency, stock availability and strategic alignment
·Establish and expand supplier-led fulfilment models, including drop ship arrangements to support availability, reduce stock-holding costs, increase fulfilment efficiencies and service levels across the product portfolio
·Manage the sourcing of technical products across key categories (components, wholesale) and collaborate with operations and sales to ensure optimal stock levels and availability
·Enable procurement automation to reduce manual processes and labour inefficiency.
Experience
* Minimum 10 years of procurement experience, ideally across related industries such as parts/components supply, automotive, manufacturing, electronics, building services, wholesale or HVAC.
* A proven track record in strategic sourcing, category management, and supplier negotiation.
* Experience leading / participating in procurement automation initiatives (removal of manual / paper based processes)
* Familiarity with global sourcing from Europe and Asia, import processes, and international supplier engagement.
* Strong analytical ability and experience using ERP systems (SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, etc.) and works effectively with sales, operations, finance, and technical teams to balance commercial and customer priorities.
* Desirable - A degree in supply chain management, engineering, business, or a related discipline and professional certifications such as CIPS, ISM, CPSM or equivalent
