Location: Hybrid - 2 days per week in Derby (flexible otherwise)

About the Role: We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager - Power Station Integration to join our Engineering team on a 12-month contract, outside IR35. This is a hybrid position with just 2 days per week on-site in Derby and the remainder flexible. In this pivotal leadership role, you will be responsible for developing and managing the integrated functional design of a Small Modular Reactor (SMR) power station. Reporting to the Head of Power Station Integration, you will build and lead a team of talented design engineers, working across multiple disciplines to deliver a fully integrated power station design that meets all functional, performance, safety, and operational requirements. This position is ideal for a highly skilled engineering leader with a deep understanding of complex power station design and operations, and a proven track record of delivering large-scale, multidisciplinary engineering projects.
Responsibilities
* Lead the development and delivery of the integrated functional design of the power station
* Coordinate and resolve cross-functional design challenges affecting multiple areas of the plant
* Manage interface integration across all systems, disciplines, and functional areas (e.g., reactor island, turbine island, control systems)
* Collaborate with safety and design teams to ensure Defence-in-Depth across all operational scenarios
* Support the development of operating philosophy, control logic, and Operational Limits and Conditions
* Act as the main point of contact for cross-cutting technical topics such as PSA, availability, layout, fire safety, and environmental impact
* Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement
* Represent the organisation in technical interactions with external stakeholders and regulators
* Develop robust project plans ensuring on-time, on-budget, and quality delivery
* Manage plant-level risks and ensure all activities align with Health, Safety, Environment, and E3S requirements
What We're Looking For
* Extensive experience in power station or large-scale industrial plant design and operation
* Broad knowledge across multiple engineering disciplines with the ability to integrate complex systems
* Strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to motivate, influence, and guide multidisciplinary teams
* Proven track record of delivering complex engineering projects to time, cost, and quality targets
* Excellent stakeholder management skills, including experience working with industry bodies, regulators, and external partners
