Role Title: Batch Test Specialist
Duration: 6 Month contract
Location: Telford, Hybrid 2 days per week onsite
Rate: up to £506 p/d Umbrella inside IR35
Clearance required: Either hold Active SC or be Eligible to obtain it (you must not have been out of the country for more than 28 consecutive days in the past 5 years)
Project Overview:
The Preventative Risking (PR) team within RIS is responsible for managing the risking and compliance referral processes for Self-Assessment (SA) registrations. Currently, the system identifies approximately 200,000 fraudulent registrations out of 1 million, resulting in an estimated £51 million to £219 million in lost SA repayment claims for the client (based on 2021/2022 figures).
To address this, a proof of concept (POC) was developed using:
1. SAS Enterprise Guide for table creation,
2. SAS Studio V and SAS RTENG to build the SA registration network,
3. SAS Viya 3.5 tools for risk assessment of new SA registrations.
The POC leveraged data from 20 different sources, most of which were already housed in the Minerva Oracle database. Previously, some data had to be transferred manually. However, the automated file transfers described in this Solution Design Document (SDD) will now move that data to the SAS platform using approved Enterprise Architecture (EA) integration patterns, with the initial phase, targeted for delivery in April 2026.
This role will form part of a new scrum team within Minerva Platform to develop and deliver the Ingestion and Risking within the SAS Platform including IDP.
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Test Automation Specialist to join our core build delivery team. This role will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining automated test frameworks and pipelines to support the deployment and validation of analytics solutions on the SAS Viya 4 platform.
Key Responsibilities:
4. Working as part of an Agile team participate in ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning, retrospectives, demos and reporting.
5. Utilise strong Stakeholder Management and communication skills to collaborate with developers, DevOps engineers, and Business Analysts to ensure test coverage aligns with business requirements and technical specifications
6. Ensure that appropriate automation tooling is implemented and utilised to meet business and technical needs.
7. Design and implement automation test strategies and plans for SAS Viya 4 applications, for UI based Visual Analytics (VA) and Intelligent Decisioning (ID), as well as for integration testing of data pipelines.
8. Develop and maintain test scripts using appropriate automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, PyTest, JUnit) and integrate them into CI/CD pipelines.
9. Confirm the test data strategy to be used
10. Maintain and evolve the test automation suite to support regression, performance, and integration testing.
11. Support the integration of test automation into Git-based CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI).
12. Troubleshoot and resolve issues in test environments, including SAS Viya containerized deployments (e.g., OpenShift, Kubernetes).
13. Contribute to test data management and environment provisioning strategies
14. Ensure that appropriate defect management is undertaken
15. Ensure results and progress are clearly articulated to relevant stakeholders.
Essential Skills & Experience:
Proven experience in:
16. Working in a collaborative agile environment
17. Test automation for data and analytics platforms, ideally including SAS Viya 4.
18. Assuring the appropriate tool selection for both business and technical needs
19. Setting the strategy and approach for both UI and System Integration based automation
20. Knowledge of REST API's and testing API endpoints
21. Scripting skills in Python, Shell, or similar languages and associated frameworks
22. Experience with CI/CD tools and version control systems (e.g., Git, Jenkins, GitLab).
23. Data Management and profiling
24. Setting test direction for the automation team
25. Strong Communication and Stakeholder Management skills
26. Strong Problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Preferred Experience:
27. Familiarity with SAS Viya architecture and components (VA, ID, CAS etc)
28. Understanding of containerized environments and orchestration tools (e.g Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift)
