Role Description
We are hiring a mid-level Frontend Developer to build fast, accessible, and scalable web experiences across our group sites. You will also manage our external web agency delivering a 16-site migration from legacy PHP sites to WordPress. Reporting to the Group Digital Marketing Director, you will translate business goals into user-centred interfaces and keep the migration on scope, on time, and within budget.
This is a front end first role: modern JavaScript, component-driven UI, and excellent HTML/CSS, working closely with a WordPress stack.
Frontend delivery
* Build responsive, accessible UIs with modern JavaScript.
* Create reusable components and patterns with a design system mindset; implement pixel-precise designs from Figma.
* Integrate with WordPress (themes, blocks, Gutenberg or headless) to deliver modules, landing pages, and marketing journeys.
* Improve Core Web Vitals; manage Lighthouse budgets, caching, and asset strategy.
* Ensure WCAG-compliant accessibility, cross-browser and device compatibility, and SEO-friendly front end.
* Implement analytics and tags (GA4, GTM) with consent-aware event tracking.
* Use Git and modern build tools (Vite or Webpack) with PR reviews and documentation.
* Configure and optimise Cloudflare (CDN, SSL, caching, rules) with IT or vendor support.
Agency and migration leadership
* Own the 16-site migration plan from PHP to WordPress: milestones, scope, risks, and dependencies.
* Act as day-to-day owner for the external agency: sprint planning, backlog grooming, acceptance criteria, and delivery sign-off.
* Define clear Definition of Done and QA processes across functional, visual, accessibility, and performance testing.
* Ensure content parity, 301 redirect mapping, structured data, and sitemaps to protect rankings.
* Coordinate environments, releases, and DNS cutovers in Cloudflare to minimise downtime.
* Track and report progress to stakeholders across regions, including the Dutch site, and align delivery with campaign timelines.
* Maintain an issue and risk log and ensure SOW compliance.
What you will bring
* Proven frontend experience shipping production websites.
* Strong JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML5, and modern CSS; experience with a major framework (React or, Vue or Nuxt).
* Solid WordPress knowledge from a frontend perspective (themes, blocks, ACF, or headless).
* Demonstrated vendor or agency management on multi-site web projects.
* Performance and accessibility expertise (Core Web Vitals, ARIA, WCAG 2.2).
* SEO-aware implementation (structured data, meta, sitemaps).
* Git workflows and familiarity with build tools and simple CI.
* Cloudflare experience (CDN, DNS, caching, rules, security).
* Clear communication, stakeholder management, and attention to detail.
Nice to have
* PHP and MySQL basics (template tweaks, phpMyAdmin).
* Testing experience (Jest or RTL, Playwright or Cypress) and Storybook or design-system tooling.
* Internationalisation and localisation; complex form integrations.
What you'll get in return:
* Competitive base salary with contributory pension scheme
* Life assurance
* 33 days of annual leave including bank holidays
* Personal development plan that incorporates appropriate training to help advance your career.
* Employee Assistance Programme.
* Employee referral programme
* company car allowance
