Family Support Worker – Oxfordshire
Pay: £ – £18 per hour Location: Oxfordshire Hours: Flexible shifts available
We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Family Support Worker to provide person‑centred care for a young individual with complex physical and learning disabilities. This is a rewarding role where you will work closely with the family to ensure dignity, comfort, and a supportive environment.
You will be confident with manual handling and hoist use, as care currently takes place downstairs using a mobile hoist, with ceiling hoists being installed as part of home adaptations. The role requires patience, empathy, and a warm personality — someone who can bring kindness and stability to daily routines while respecting privacy and family life.
What we’re looking for
Previous experience supporting individuals with complex physical or learning disabilities
Competence in manual handling and hoist use
A caring, patient, and motherly approach to care
Strong communication skills and willingness to liaise closely with Mum and the wider care team
Respect for privacy, dignity, and family routines
Reliability, punctuality, and trustworthiness
Experience supporting non‑verbal individuals or those with visual impairments
Awareness of PEG feeding and seizure management (not required for this role, as Mum will handle these tasks)
Key skills and training:
Practical moving and handling
First Aid
Health and safety
Fire safety
Medications awareness
Epilepsy awareness
Professional boundaries
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a collaborative, family‑focused way and wants to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those they support.
