Role Overview
Based at our client’s facility in Bedford, this role supports the efficient operation of the stores and logistics function. The position involves the safe operation of a forklift truck, moving equipment and materials across site, and assisting with general warehouse activities.
Applicants must have demonstrable experience operating a forklift truck.
Key Responsibilities
* Support warehouse management to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the stores function
* Operate a forklift truck to safely move equipment and materials around the site
* Assist in maintaining accurate stock control and logistics processes
* Maintain competency across all aspects of logistics operations, including IT systems and materials handling equipment (MHE)
* Support colleagues and provide on-the-job guidance where required
* Demonstrate a customer-focused, proactive approach to meeting operational requirements
* Be flexible and willing to support other areas of the organisation as business needs require
* Undertake tasks within safe levels of competence
* Identify opportunities to improve processes, working practices, and team efficiency
Skills & Experience
* Forklift truck driving experience (essential)
* Security Clearance (SC) held previously or currently is highly desirable
* Experience within stores, logistics, defence, Armed Forces, or MoD environments is advantageous
* Comfortable using multiple IT systems
* Physically capable of handling and moving materials around site
* Strong problem-solving abilities
* Good communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to remain calm under pressure and resolve issues effectively
* Willingness to question processes constructively and contribute to improvements
* Motivated to learn new skills and develop within the role
