As a Business Administrator Apprentice, you will deliver a comprehensive business and administrative support service to the Social Care team within the North Locality. You will play a key role in ensuring the team operates efficiently and in line with statutory requirements within a fast‑paced and evolving environment. Our team makes a real difference, working alongside professionals to achieve the best possible outcomes for children and young people across South Gloucestershire. Through your work, you will support the council and partner agencies in safeguarding vulnerable families and helping to create lasting impact within the community.
Responsibilities
* Working alongside our experienced colleagues, you will act as a main point of contact for the service area, providing clear and effective communication when responding to enquiries and information requests.
* Providing administrative support to managers, ensuring that processes run efficiently and procedures are followed effectively, including preparing and taking minutes for key meetings.
* Developing your research skills, gathering and analysing information relevant to your service area and collating evidence to support reports, and drafting sections of documents for use by colleagues.
* Collating, maintaining and analysing records and data, ensuring information is accurate, accessible and effectively interpreted from computerised systems.
* Regularly interacting with customers, colleagues and partner agencies, helping to build and maintain strong working relationships.
* Identifying and communicating concerns, queries and issues clearly, ensuring they are escalated appropriately and in a timely manner.
* Supporting the accurate recording, monitoring and maintenance of financial information, including budgets and resources.
Qualifications
* Minimum of GCSEs at grades A–C/4–9, or equivalent qualifications, in English and maths.
* Good IT skills, particularly in the use of Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word and Excel.
* Strong willingness to learn, with commitment and motivation to successfully complete your Level 3 qualification.
* Strong communication skills, with confidence to engage effectively across a wide range of channels, including telephone, email and face‑to‑face interactions.
* Experience of basic financial procedures, such as handling petty cash or processing invoices (advantageous).
Salary
* Age 21+ – hourly rate £12.71, annual salary £24,454.
* Age 18–20 – hourly rate £10.85, annual salary £20,875.
* Age 16–17 – hourly rate £8.00, annual salary £15,392.
