Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Advanced AHP Lead Occupational Therapist to join our friendly Calderdale Adult Community Learning Disabilities Health Service. You will lead a multi-disciplinary AHP team, providing regular supervision, support and management plus the development of pathways to ensure delivery of the AHP service within the Calderdale LD Health Team. You will be involved in wider team management and work alongside partners across Calderdale, while maintaining your own caseload.
Responsibilities
* Lead the multi-disciplinary AHP team providing supervision, support and management.
* Develop pathways and service development for the AHP team.
* Link and support OTs across the LD service.
* Participate as an effective MDT member promoting a consistent multi-agency approach and staff development.
* Work flexibly based on service user need, using reasonable adjustments to provide support.
* Demonstrate autonomous working and collaboration within a wider team.
* Ensure safe, effective, and personalised care in line with Trust objectives; understand complex needs of people with learning disabilities.
* Travel across the locality if required and have access to a vehicle for business purposes.
Requirements / Qualifications
* Qualifications
Essential: Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy; Current valid HCPC registration; Practice Education/Practice Assessor Preparation Certificate (or to achieve within 12 months).
* Desirable: MSc/Diploma in relevant area.
* Training
Essential: Evidence of continuing professional development and post graduate training; Demonstrable competence to work at Masters or Advanced Level.
* Desirable: Management or leadership training; Risk assessment training; Audit training.
* Physical Attributes
Essential: Ability to undertake the duties; valid driving licence and access to a car during working day (reasonable adjustments considered for disability).
* Personal Attributes
Essential: Ability to risk assess and deal with health and safety; ability to work autonomously and flexibly (evenings/weekends possible).
* Experience
Essential: Extensive post-registration experience relevant to clinical area; experience supervising and managing staff.
* Special Knowledge & Skills
Essential: Excellent communication, leadership, teaching, supervision, clinical reasoning; strong teamwork; time management and prioritisation; negotiating skills; knowledge of local/national guidance. Desirable: Basic IT skills.
