JOB: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
LOCATION: Birmingham
TERM: Permanent
SALARY: Competitive, dependent on experience
My client is looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their engineering team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for the concept and detailed design of mechanical and electromechanical products.
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
* Degree qualified Engineer with a minimum of 5 years industry experience
* Proven ability in one of the leading 3D CAD modelling packages, ideally Creo
* Experience of designing with both metals and plastic materials
* Good experience in working with electromechanical products
* Knowledge/experience in concept design work
* Knowledge of rotating components such as bearings, seals, gears, and pulleys would be advantageous
* Excellent knowledge of GD and Ts
* Experience in DFMEA and DFM
* Ability to work from first principles in concept design work, utilising strong problem‑solving skills
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Role Will Involve
* Assisting in the design of a range of engine ancillaries including oil, water, and fuel pumps
* Concept and detailed design of e:Pumps for data centre applications
* Working from first principles to support concept design activities and problem solving
* Working alongside the engineering team to ensure designs are optimised for manufacture
* Liaising with the design team and Chief Engineer to resolve design issues
* Creating CAD models and engineering drawing layouts
* Producing engineering reports
* Liaising with customers, internal departments, and external suppliers
* Supporting the successful delivery of design projects through collaboration with key stakeholders
