Job Description:
MCS Group is seeking an Environmental Health Officer for a public sector role in County Antrim, offering a 4-day work week, competitive salary, and potential for contract extension. Location: Ballymena. Contract Length: 9 months, with likelihood of extension. Salary: £38.5k (Pro-rata).
Responsibilities include:
1. Conduct inspections, investigations, and assessments across environmental health functions such as public health, food safety, and housing.
2. Implement enforcement actions in accordance with legislation, including serving notices and preparing legal documents.
3. Act as an expert witness and provide advice and reports for legal and public health matters.
4. Collaborate with external agencies and stakeholders to achieve environmental health objectives.
5. Participate in planning reviews, public consultations, health campaigns, and reactive monitoring, including out-of-hours responses.
6. Maintain knowledge of relevant legislation, support training, and perform administrative duties.
Candidate Requirements:
1. Degree in Environmental Health or equivalent experience.
2. Membership of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.
3. At least 1 year of experience in a similar public sector role.
4. Knowledge of current Environmental Health legislation.
5. Stakeholder engagement skills.
6. Valid driver's license and access to transport.
