Domestic Abuse Practitioner Family Safeguarding Team for Bury Council Part-Time - 29.5 hours per week Fixed Term role till 31st March 2026 due to funding 35,412 - 38,220 pro rata About the role Become a Domestic Abuse Practitioner for Bury and help with our Let s Do it for Children vision. We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Domestic Abuse Practitioner to join our team in Bury. This is a vital role supporting children and young people affected by domestic abuse, working closely with families and professionals to promote safety, recovery, and resilience. Your role responsibilities: Deliver practical and emotional support to children and young people impacted by domestic abuse. Work alongside allocated social workers and multi-agency professionals using the Family Safeguarding Model of social work practice. Support parents/carers in understanding the impact of domestic abuse on their children. Advocate for young people in multi-agency meetings and forums. Provide training and support to school staff to help them identify and respond to domestic abuse. Develop and implement individual risk and support plans tailored to each child or young person. Facilitate outreach groups, drop-ins, and community-based projects. About you: Ideally, candidates will have completed a recognised domestic abuse training course. However, this is not essential, as full training and support will be provided to the successful candidate as part of their induction and ongoing professional development. While previous experience working with a broad spectrum of services within the field of social work with children and families either through direct practice or training would be beneficial, it is not essential. We welcome applicants who are passionate about making a difference, and we will provide comprehensive training, including the opportunity to complete a recognised domestic abuse course as part of your professional development. Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation with its implications for the delivery of social work services to children and families. Highly developed interpersonal and caring skills in order to meet the very demanding needs of children, young people and their families. Excellent analytical and judgemental skills to analyse and interpret complex information or situations and to solve difficult problems or develop solutions and plans.
