Operational Risk Manager – Capital Markets

An established global financial services firm with a strong presence across energy, commodities, and capital markets is expanding its London team. With operations spanning multiple regions and asset classes, the business is recognised for providing market access, liquidity solutions, and infrastructure services to a diverse client base including banks, asset managers, hedge funds, and trading houses.
As part of this growth, we are seeking an Operational Risk Manager with deep knowledge of the full trade life cycle and proven experience within capital markets. This role will play a key part in strengthening the firm’s risk management framework, supporting senior stakeholders, and driving forward best practices across the business.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and facilitate risk and control assessments across the trade life cycle.
* Conduct root cause analysis of operational events and implement preventative strategies.
* Deliver risk reports, dashboards, and insights to senior management.
* Represent Operational Risk in governance forums and committees.
* Drive continuous improvement of the Operational Risk Framework and promote a strong risk-aware culture.
* Provide challenge and support on new business initiatives and change programmes.
* Build collaborative relationships across first, second, and third lines of defence.
What We’re Looking For
* Strong background in operational risk, governance, or controls within capital markets.
* Comprehensive understanding of the end-to-end trade life cycle across multiple asset classes.
* Knowledge of frameworks such as Basel, COSO, and ERM, and experience with risk/control assessments.
* Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels.
* Analytical mindset with the ability to deliver clear insights and recommendations.
* Organised, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
