Head of Digital Enablement
Reading (Hybrid working)
We are seeking a Head of Digital Enablement to lead the development of a modern, data-driven digital capability within a major infrastructure organisation. This senior leadership role will be responsible for embedding data, analytics, automation, and AI into operational processes to improve performance, efficiency, and decision-making across the business.
Sitting at the heart of the organisation’s digital transformation programme, this role will translate digital and data strategy into practical capabilities that deliver measurable value across operational teams.
We are particularly interested in candidates from asset-intensive infrastructure environments, including sectors such as rail, highways, utilities, energy, or large engineering organisations managing extensive physical asset portfolios. These environments share similar challenges around asset data, operational performance, regulatory compliance, and infrastructure resilience.
Key Responsibilities
Digital Strategy & Delivery
* Lead the digital enablement roadmap, translating enterprise digital and data strategies into actionable programmes and initiatives.
* Ensure digital capabilities directly support operational performance, efficiency, and long-term infrastructure management.
Data & Analytics Leadership
* Oversee enterprise Business Intelligence and Management Information capabilities, including dashboards, analytics, and self-service reporting.
* Develop advanced analytics to support forecasting, operational insights, and risk management.
Data Governance & Maturity
* Establish robust data governance frameworks, standards, and controls.
* Lead the organisation’s data maturity journey, building a coordinated enterprise-wide data capability.
Automation & AI
* Drive automation initiatives, including RPA and intelligent automation.
* Develop and implement a responsible AI strategy to support operational efficiency and informed decision-making.
Adoption & Value Realisation
* Ensure digital tools and insights are embedded across operational teams.
* Track and demonstrate measurable value from digital, analytics, and automation initiatives.
Leadership
* Lead, develop, and grow a high-performing digital enablement team.
* Champion a culture of data-driven decision-making across the organisation.
About You
* Senior leadership experience in digital enablement, data, analytics, or automation.
* Strong understanding of data governance frameworks such as DAMA, DCAM, or similar.
* Proven experience delivering digital transformation within asset-heavy infrastructure environments.
* Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior and executive-level leaders.
* Track record of delivering analytics, automation, or AI initiatives that drive measurable operational improvements.
* Experience within sectors such as rail, highways, utilities, energy, or other regulated infrastructure industries would be highly advantageous.
