Dermatology Support Nurse

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Dermatology Support Nurse to join our Dermatology team.
The successful candidate will support the Dermatology Nurse Specialist in providing clinical provision and expertise to Dermatology patients and other healthcare professionals in the Trust and community. To provide a high standard of nursing care and to develop existing specialist dermatology knowledge and skills.
Main duties of the job
To provide skilled assessment of patients to include where necessary history taking and physical examination relative to dermatological condition.
To undertake nurse led clinics autonomously, recognising the need to delegate / refer to other Health Care professional when risk and needs are beyond own competence and scope of practice.
To provide a high standard of nursing care and to develop existing dermatology knowledge and skills.

Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
* Registered Nurse
* Qualification related to dermatology or relevant professional experience
* Evidence of ongoing professional development
* Non-Medical prescriber (or if not achieved must be within 24 months of commencement of post)
Knowledge and Experience
* A minimum of 5 years post registration experience
* Recent experience in dermatology at band 6 level in a dermatology department
* Can evidence experience of undertaking nurse-led clinics under Consultant Dermatologist supervision
* Ability to demonstrate a broad clinical knowledge base within dermatology
* Mentorship or other formal teaching qualification
Skills and Knowledge
* Knowledge of relevant national standards that inform practice
* Broad knowledge base within chronic disease management
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients on clinical matters
* Ability to liaise and communicate with the Primary Care team and contribute to their objectives in the care of their dermatology patient
* Ability to interpret and apply research-based practice
* Experience of writing protocols, policies and guidelines
