Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate, accredited CBT therapist or clinical psychologist to join our warm and friendly team based in Salford. We will offer supervision, guidance and training to all applicants and candidates and are able to discuss personal development goals and job plan to ensure that successful candidates are working to the best of their ability and using their skills in their day-to-day role.
Main duties of the job
To carry a caseload of clients and deliver evidence based psychological assessment and interventions to individuals, families and groups.
To provide psychological assessment of clients based on the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of psychological data from a variety of sources. This will include use of specific validated self-report measures, rating scales, observation, and interview.
To use judgement in formulation and implementation of plans for the client’s care, and to design and implement specific evidence-based therapy programmes, drawn from a range of empirically supported theoretical models of therapy.
In conjunction with other members of the multi-disciplinary team, to undertake risk assessment and risk management for all clients, and to provide general advice to other professionals on psychological aspects of risk assessment and management.
To communicate complex and potentially emotive information regarding the client’s condition, treatment and prognosis, directly with clients, carers/relatives, and other healthcare professionals (subject to ethical boundaries of confidentiality).
To liaise with colleagues in the service to ensure the delivery of high-quality psychological care to clients.
To provide advice and consultation to colleagues and to client, carers and support networks as required.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
• The post holder will primarily be responsible for providing assessment/therapies, particularly Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Psychosis (CBTp) and Family Interventions, to people experiencing psychosis related difficulties in receipt of a service from the Salford Early Intervention Team.
• Although the post holder will be primarily responsible for providing psychological input to individual clients, they will function as an integral member of the service’s multi-disciplinary team, and will on occasion support care coordination, crisis management and other tasks that will support us to provide the best possible service to our clients.
• In conjunction with other clinical psychologists/psychological therapists working within the service, the post holder will contribute as appropriate to the provision of individual and group evidenced based interventions.
• The post holder will contribute to the supervision and development of other staff.
• The post holder will work within the policies, procedures and guidelines for the Salford Directorate and the Early Intervention Service.
• The post holder will plan and organise their work schedule and tasks within the parameters of the Job Plan agreed with the Team Manager.
Person specification
Qualifications
* Qualified CBT therapist or clinical psychologist
Experience
* Be experienced in the application of cognitive-behavioural approaches to people with psychosis and/or their carer’s
* Experience of providing supervision to non-psychologists
Knowledge
* A thorough understanding of what is required in working in a Multi-Disciplinary Team in terms of appropriate and professional behaviour and in dealing with confidentiality and similar issues
* Awareness of key policy/legislation relevant to Early Intervention and secondary mental health services
