Overview
An established and growing mechanical services contractor is seeking Technical Mechanical Supervisors to join their team on a permanent basis. This role is ideal for time-served commercial plumbers or pipefitters with a strong heating and ventilation background who are looking to step into a supervisory or management position.
Candidates who are currently on the tools and looking to progress into site management are strongly encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
* Supervision of direct and sub-contract Operatives, plant and equipment, to ensure that they carry out duties required and work efficiently and effectively within the requirements of the Company.
* To ensure that works are completed to the required Company standard and within projected time-scale, costs and technical requirements.
* Carry out inspections of works in progress and completed works, schedule additional works and monitor progress.
* Monitor performance of Operatives within specific contracts, undertake surveys and prepare reports.
* Monitor operatives to ensure compliance with quality, H&S and performance targets.
* Ensure that statutory obligations in relation to Gas Safety Regulations and any other regulation that is specific to your area of operation.
* To be aware of the exact disposition of all Operatives and sub-contractors in the field and their availability, to control and liaise with sub-contractors and Operatives in the field to ensure that all aspects of the Operatives and sub-contractors function is fully resourced and serviced to maintain maximum efficiency.
* To act as a liaison between Operatives in the field and the PMs within the dept, so that problems and issues can be dealt with effectively and efficiently.
* Keeping records as required and where appropriate.
* To report on a regular basis within the requirements of the PM on the status of all works within the Department to identify, in good time, problems of time-scale or resources.
* To ensure that all work carried out complies with the relevant sections of the Health and Safety at Work Act.
Requirements
* Time-served Commercial Plumber or Pipefitter.
* Strong experience in heating and ventilation systems.
* Previous supervisory experience is desirable but not essential.
* Suitable for operatives looking to transition from tools into management.
* Good communication and leadership skills.
* Ability to work across multiple sites within the Cambridge to South East region.
