The aim of the Directorate is to provide integrated preventive, curative and long-term follow-up services for all children up to the age of 16 years both in the community and in hospital, in the most appropriate setting. We will treat adolescents over 16 where appropriate, particularly those with chronic illness or mental health problems and provide shared care for young adults presenting with oncological problems until their 18th birthday where appropriate.
The objectives of the Directorate are:
1. To achieve further development of the Directorate in terms of integration of its complex elements
2. Undertake multi-disciplinary work with mutual respect and support
3. To develop business plans for each of the areas within the Directorate
4. Establish an academic profile for the Directorate in terms of high quality teaching and research
5. Acquire the administrative resources needed to fulfil our ambitions
6. Define effective information flows within and without the Directorate by exploiting all available technolog

Education/Qualifications
Essential criteria
7. MRCP
8. MBBS or equivelant
9. Registration with the General Medical Council
Desirable criteria
10. MRCPCH
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
11. Senior House Office (SHO)
12. Paediatrics/neonatology speciality/sub-speciality
13. Satisfactory understating of Audits and clinical risk and quality
Desirable criteria
14. Previous Specialist Registrar
15. Previous neonatal experience
16. Previous teaching experience
17. Previous Management & Audit experience
18. Previous research/publications experience
