At St Matthias Academy, we have three school sites, Fishponds, Brentry and Bath. You will be expected to travel between sites at times.**The Role:**We’re looking for a reliable and hardworking Lead Art Teacher to join our friendly school team!**What you’ll be doing:*** You will teach effective lessons and be responsible for this to the Head through the team leader.* Ensure that lessons are well prepared, all work marked regularly, and homework set according to agreed policy.* Maintain records of pupil attainment, and to be aware of standards achieved, so enabling assessments to be provided whenever necessary.* Produce effective reports on pupil progress and targets for improvement.* Ensure high standards of behaviour from students.* Work as a member of a team, seeking to implement its aims and objectives, extending knowledge and understanding of the curriculum, recognising the need for change, and* Contributing where necessary to the writing/development of new material and schemes of work.* Attend all team meetings (subject and pastoral).* Discuss with the Team Leader and colleagues those aspects of pupils’ performance which are a cause for concern, and to seek advice, guidance or support where appropriate.* Promote the general progress and personal and social well-being of any assigned group of pupils through the school’s tutorial and PSE programme.* You will participate in performance management – identifying areas for development and accessing appropriate training and professional development.* Provide work for classes (whenever possible) when absent.* Communicate and consult with the parents of pupils through attendance at Parents’ Evenings.* Have regard to the school Health and Safety policy.* promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young persons across the subjects.* To implement and deliver the D&T and Art curriculum, adapting practice according to age and educational need;* Set stretching and realistic targets for pupils that encourage collective and individual aspirations;* Monitor and assess pupil work and prepare feedback;* Assess, monitor and report pupil attainment;* Design collective and individual interventions where appropriate;* Support and follow the programme of pupil development for a tutor group;* Prepare pupils for exams and external assessment;* Participate in enrichment and extracurricular activities;* Direct teaching assistants and trainee teachers in the classroom; and* Liaise with parents, carers and other academic stakeholders about progress and pupil engagement.**What we offer:*** A supportive and welcoming school environment.* Training and development opportunities.* Employee Assistance Programme* Cycle to work scheme### Attachments### Safeguarding Statement:St Matthias Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.We particularly welcome applications from under represented groups including ethnicity, gender, transgender, age, disability, sexual orientation or religion.### St Matthias AcademyPart of### Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership
