About The Role

As a LNG Terminal Design Engineer, you will provide vital support to the Technical Development Manager to ensure effective technical oversight in your discipline, managing a portfolio of projects delivered as part of a large programme of works. Responsible for embedding a culture of continuous improvement within a team using performance excellence, implementing visual performance management and problem‑solving techniques, you will develop an effective and highly motivated workforce, delivering year‑on‑year cost efficiencies and improvements in productivity and resource utilisation while maintaining world‑class operational excellence, safety and customer satisfaction. Working closely with key stakeholders, project controls, construction and contracting partners, you will drive maximum efficiency through delivery of the project engineering plans, ensuring the workforce within the area is appropriately trained, competent and has the necessary flexibility to meet current and future workload requirements. What you'll do

* Acting as the focal point for leading technical projects, you will manage scope, schedule and budget; author and review technical reports/documentation and obtain necessary stakeholder approvals. You will carry out project handover to procurement and construction stages, mentor junior engineers and support other members of the Technical Development team.
* Ensure data is recorded correctly to support accurate management and regulatory reporting; monitor team operational performance to meet objectives and resolve issues timely.
* Provide visible front‑line engagement with terminal stakeholders, the wider project team and suppliers, managing key technical interfaces.
* Monitor contractor workforce to ensure delivery of design and engineering within a project function or plant area, responding to technical queries promptly to keep site operations unimpeded.
* Ensure contracting partners adhere to technical requirements in scopes, specifications and other contractual documents, and incorporate safety, operational and maintenance requirements into all design and engineering activities. Provide timely comments in the project document control system.
* Proactively develop and deliver the work programme or plant configuration plan with the planning team, tracking and updating regularly to maintain targets and provide input into short, medium and long‑term planning of work schedules.


What you'll need

* An engineering degree or relevant qualification; ideally Chartered or developing towards an appropriate professional status, with experience of working with LNG at a top‑tier CoMAH site.
* Excellent communication, organisational and planning skills; strong project management and stakeholder engagement abilities, essential for delivering projects on scope, schedule, budget and quality, with safety as a priority.
* Comprehensive understanding of safety, technical issues and site specifications & procedures, managing the interface of on‑site activities for the portfolio.
* Knowledge of external organisations influencing technical development such as EU, UK Government, HSE, Ofgem, supplier forums and consumer expectations; as well as HSE regulations, current industry standards and policy development.
* Effective management of allocated budgets and control of on‑job expenditures.

* Competitive salary £54,000 to £67,539 per annum, dependent on capability.
