Responsibilities and Qualifications
* Bridge Theory & Practice: Integrate computational precision with experimental workflows to advance our high-stakes research portfolio.
* Technical Execution: Strongly involved in high-precision metallurgical preparation, execute advanced heat treatment protocols, and perform rigorous mechanical characterisation.
* Workflow Optimisation: Act as a "collaborative catalyst," streamlining multidisciplinary team efforts to remove bottlenecks and accelerate project milestones.
* Strategic Communication: Translate complex technical findings into actionable insights for stakeholders and cross-functional partners.
* Analytical Rigor: A background in Advanced Manufacturing that allows for the seamless integration of digital and physical engineering processes.
* Synergy Specialist: A proven track record of fostering collaboration in multidisciplinary environments, turning individual expertise into collective success.
* Your education and employment history (including your most recent employment).
* Any other relevant experience (e.g. volunteering, extracurricular, etc.).
* Robust Engineering Background: Degree in Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related Advanced Manufacturing discipline.
* Hands-on Experience: Demonstrated proficiency in laboratory settings, specifically with precision preparation and characterization equipment.
* The research project will be within the Steel Processing Group at WMG. WMG delivers world-class research and benefits from excellent facilities and industrial collaboration sustainable low-carbon manufacturing, contributing directly to the UK's net-zero ambitions and the circular economy.
About You
* Background in advanced manufacturing and engineering.
* Familiarity in metallurgical preparation, mechanical testing, heat treatments.
* Excellent presentation, communication and dissemination skills.
* Strong teamworking skills and ability to synergise with the research team.
* Comfortable communicating with academics and non-academics.
* Ability to work effectively with industrial partners.
* Record of research papers published.
