Bioprocessing Quality Assurance Lead (GMP / Automation)
Location: Labman HQ, North Yorkshire
Salary: £45,000 – £55,000 (depending on experience)

About the Role
Labman is seeking a Quality Assurance Lead to join our Bioprocess Automation Business Unit, delivering high‑value automation systems for regulated industries including bioprocessing, cell and gene therapy, and vaccine manufacturing.
This is a senior, hands‑on role combining project leadership with quality assurance ownership. You will lead complex engineering projects while developing and maintaining robust quality processes aligned to GMP, ISO 9001, and GAMP 5 guidelines.
Systems range from process skids to robotic work cells, delivered to customers worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management
* Lead engineering projects across the full lifecycle, from concept and proposal through to delivery and ongoing support
* Work directly with customers to define requirements, develop solutions, and prepare detailed costings
* Create and maintain project plans, resource allocations, budgets, and schedules
* Monitor progress, manage risks, and control scope changes using formal change control
* Build robust business cases with fully costed options
* Collaborate with multi‑disciplinary engineering teams to deliver projects on time, within scope, and to a high standard
* Act as a positive role model, demonstrating accountability, professionalism, and proactive problem‑solving
Quality Assurance
* Support the implementation and maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS) in line with ISO 9001 and relevant standards
* Develop and embed quality processes tailored to bioprocess automation projects
* Oversee quality control across engineering and project delivery activities
* Investigate non‑conformances, lead root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
* Maintain robust documentation, including audit trails, change control, and training records
* Support internal, customer, and third‑party audits
* Champion consistency, compliance, and continuous improvement across the business unit
What We're Looking For
* Proven experience delivering engineering or automation projects, ideally in regulated or GMP environments
* Strong project management skills with the ability to manage complexity and multiple stakeholders
* Experience working with or supporting quality management systems (ISO 9001 or similar)
* High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
* Ability to work effectively in multi‑disciplinary engineering teams
* Confident communicator with strong influencing skills
* Analytical, structured problem‑solver with a proactive approach to improvement
Location & Travel
This role is based at our North Yorkshire office and will require international travel from time to time.
