Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Senior Pharmacy Technician to join the Radiopharmacy team at the Sutton site of The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. This newly created post supports the expansion of our services and offers a fantastic opportunity for a proactive and enthusiastic individual to develop their skills in aseptic production, clinical trials, quality assurance, and operational management. Acting as a deputy to the Radiopharmaceutical Scientist (Clinical Trials), you will be a specialist in Clinical Trials and play a key role in supporting the delivery and coordination of Clinical Trials activities, ensuring compliance with GMP and GCP regulations.

Job responsibilities

* The post-holder will undertake the routine aseptic production of both diagnostic and therapeutic radioactive medicinal products for clinical use, operating within the terms of Standard Operating Procedures.
* The post-holder will perform a range of in vitro laboratory tests using unsealed source of radioactivity, operating within the terms of Standard Operating Procedures.
* The post-holder will calculate results from such tests, and enter the confirmed results on to the system for verification by the radiopharmaceutical scientists.
* The post-holder will maintain suitable levels of both stock and non-stock items in the Radiopharmacy, as defined in Standard Operating Procedures.
* To dispose of radioactive waste in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
* The post-holder will be required to comply with relevant statutory requirements relating to the manufacture of radioactive medicinal products, including those related to Good Manufacturing Practice, as defined in The Rules and Guidance for Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Distributors (Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency).
About the Department
The Radiopharmacy holds MS and MIA(IMP) licences and provides a comprehensive range of radiopharmaceutical services to internal departments and external hospitals. Our services include: Manufacturing, dispensing, and quality control of diagnostic and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals; In Vitro laboratory services; Clinical trials; Quality Assurance. The team consists of 20 dedicated staff members who work collaboratively to ensure the seamless delivery of clinical services.

Person specification
Essential:
* A degree in a relevant scientific discipline or equivalent experience
* Previous experience in Radiopharmacy or Aseptics
* Flexible approach to working hours; availability to start between 05:00 and 08:30 on a rotational basis
Desirable:
* Registered Pharmacy Technician (GPHC)
* Experience in aseptic manufacturing and clinical trials
* Strong communication and organisational skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
