Murphy is recruiting for a Senior Buyer Subcontract Buyer to work with Transportation on the TRUe project at Shipley and Leeds.
Senior Subcontract Buyer role provides a professional procurement service for the CP7 North West and Central framework, striving to achieve value for money and high stakeholder satisfaction. The role delivers outcomes and objectives as agreed with the Procurement Manager and manages subcontract procurement for the programme of works. The Senior Subcontract Buyer sits in the Commercial Team and reports to the Procurement Manager. The role covers sites across the North West and takes instruction from Senior Management across the programme of works.
Responsibilities
1. Ensure that appropriate behaviours and "best for project" approaches are always adopted, leading by example in the pursuit of successful delivery.
2. Negotiate directly with suppliers to secure best rates and terms for subcontract packages.
3. Work in partnership with the Procurement Manager, approve bid proposals and specifications, and provide recommendations.
4. Undertake supplier approval administration duties and build supplier relationships.
5. Progress purchase orders and communicate issues to wider teams.
6. Place orders for subcontract purchases in accordance with company guidelines.
7. Provide support to project teams and wider disciplines on purchasing matters.
8. Manage the tender process for subcontract packages through Asite.
9. Meet with operational teams and deliver their buying requirements.
10. Ensure savings, rebates and compliance in line with Murphy procurement strategy and policies.
11. Execute end‑to‑end procurement processes: data collection, document preparation, negotiation, contract award, contract management and supplier relationship management.
12. Manage communication with subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
13. Maintain auditable records in line with governance and contract.
14. Feed into the PPC weekly reporting schedule.
15. Maintain/update the Procurement Schedule.
16. Embed the use of Asite with the project teams.
17. Undertake any other reasonable duties required in line with project needs and wider team.
Qualifications
* Previous exposure in procurement as a Senior Subcontract Buyer, gained within an engineering or construction environment.
* Educated to degree level or equivalent in relevant subject or demonstrable industry experience.
* CIPS or MCIPS accredited.
* Must have NEC knowledge and experience of managing a procurement schedule.
* Proven ability to expertly use a range of relevant software.
* Utilises negotiation skills where appropriate to influence outcomes.
* Ability to present and communicate complex data clearly and concisely.
* Personal resilience and ability to respond positively to pressure.
* Knowledge of or experience of using continuous improvement techniques.
