About the role: Are you an experienced professional with a passion for risk, governance, and assurance? We are seeking a Risk and Assurance Manager to lead the development, coordination, and continuous improvement of the organisation’s risk management, assurance, compliance and quality monitoring frameworks. Role Purpose: Operating across a diverse range of service lines – including aviation, construction, care, and other regulated and safety-critical activities – this role plays a pivotal part of ensuring strong governance, regulatory compliance, and informed decision-making at all levels of the organisation. Reporting to and working closely with the Head of Legal and Governance, the post-holder will engage with senior leaders, Managing Directors, the Audit, Risk and Assurance Committee (ARAC), and the Board to ensure risks are effectively managed, and transparently reported. What you'll be doing: Leading and maintaining the organisation’s integrated risk and assurance framework, including strategic and fraud risk registers Supporting the development and review of the organisation’s risk appetite and facilitating regular risk reviews Coordinating internal and external audit activity and tracking delivery of agreed actions Overseeing compliance monitoring and assurance mapping, ensuring clear reporting to senior leadership, ARAC, and the Board Supporting and maintaining organisational quality management systems and external accreditations (e.g. BSI / ISO) Acting as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, promoting a strong, proportionate risk and assurance culture About you: Qualifications & experience essential criteria: Substantial experience in risk management, compliance, audit, or assurance roles Strong understanding of risk management frameworks, internal controls, and assurance mapping Proven experience in developing, maintaining, and reporting corporate risk registers, facilitating risk reviews, and supporting the development of organisational appetite Proven ability to work with senior leaders, including CEOs, Directors, and Boards Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure Excellent written and verbal communication skills High levels of integrity, professionalism, and discretion, with the ability to handle sensitive information appropriately Ability to exercise professional judgement and operate with a high degree of autonomy Qualifications & experience desirable criteria: Experience in a LATCO, public sector, or regulated environment Experience coordinating internal and external audits Knowledge of quality management standards and accreditation processes, including BSI / ISO Experience providing training or guidance on risk, compliance, or assurance topics to operational teams Professional qualification in risk, governance, audit, compliance, or related field (e.g., CIMA, CIPFA, IIA, ISO Lead Auditor) A relevant professional qualification in risk, governance, audit or compliance is desirable; however, equivalent knowledge gained through significant practical experience will be equally valued.
