Project: Onshore HVDC EPC Project
Our client is seeking an experienced Project Quality Engineer to support the delivery of a major onshore HVDC transmission project under an EPC framework. This role plays a critical part in ensuring that all project phases—from engineering through to commissioning—meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop, implement, and maintain the Project Quality Plan, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), and project-specific quality procedures in line with EPC contractual requirements
* Oversee quality assurance and control across converter stations, HV equipment, civil works, mechanical installations, and HVDC control & protection systems
* Ensure compliance with project specifications, EPC standards, and relevant IEC/EN regulations
* Conduct audits of suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring adherence to quality standards across manufacturing and site activities
* Lead the Non-Conformance Report (NCR) process, including investigation, root cause analysis, corrective/preventive actions, and closure
* Establish and manage a structured Lessons Learned programme, embedding insights into current and future project phases
* Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), inspections, and commissioning activities, ensuring full documentation and traceability
* Collaborate with engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams to embed quality throughout the project lifecycle
* Monitor and report on quality KPIs, trends, and risks, driving continuous improvement across the EPC delivery chain
Qualifications & Experience
* Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline
* Proven experience in quality engineering within large, complex, and safety-critical projects
* Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, EPC quality frameworks, and HVDC-related IEC standards (preferred)
* Demonstrated experience in NCR management, root cause analysis, and supplier/subcontractor quality oversight
* Experience implementing Lessons Learned processes and driving continuous improvement
* Excellent communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work across contractor and client organisations
