We are currently recruitingthree support workersto join a specialistshort breaks serviceinNorthampton, providing respite care for children aged5 to 18 years.
This is a rewarding opportunity to join a structured, nurturing, and purpose-built residential setting offering short-term overnight care in a safe and stimulating environment.
About the Service
ThisOfsted-registered short breaks homeprovides overnight care for children and young people with:
* Severe learning disabilities
* Complex behaviours associated with their disability
* Dual diagnoses such asAutismandADHD
* Mild physical disabilities combined with additional learning or behavioural needs
The setting supports up tosix children at a time, with tailored care plans, structured routines, and fully accessible facilities designed to promote both independence and emotional well-being.
Facilities Include:
* Themed, child-friendly bedrooms
* Sensory room and soft play area
* Enclosed outdoor garden and covered play space
* Gaming room and multiple lounge areas
* Disabled-access Jacuzzi bath with lights/music
* Bathrooms designed to support independence in personal care
* Kitchen and dining areas to promote life skills
* Minibus for leisure and community outings
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide high-quality, person-centred care for children and young people with diverse needs
* Support with daily routines, personal care, and emotional well-being
* Promote social interaction, independence, and access to leisure and community activities
* Respond calmly and professionally to challenging behaviour and complex situations
* Maintain accurate records and contribute to care planning
* Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and nurturing support
Requirements:
* Minimum12 months experiencein a residential or complex care setting (children or young people)
* Understanding oflearning disabilities, Autism, and behaviour support
* Ability to workflexible shifts, including days, nights, and weekends
* EnhancedDBS on the Update Service(or willingness to process one)
* Strong safeguarding knowledge and commitment to child protection principles
* Relevant training and qualifications (e.g., Children’s Residential Care, MAPA/Team Teach) are desirable
Pay & Contract Details
* £17.36 per hour (umbrella rate)
* 37 hours per week– shift-based, including nights and weekends
* Immediate start following compliance checks
