Mechanical Maintenance Technician
Location: Clitheroe – on site
Contract: 6‑month contract (likely extension to 12 months)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 3:30pm
Pay Rates:
* PAYE: £25.48 per hour
* Umbrella: £34.00 per hour
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join an established maintenance team supporting a large‑scale industrial site in Clitheroe. The role is heavily focused on heavy‑duty mechanical maintenance within a process / plant environment, ensuring high levels of plant availability through both reactive and planned maintenance activities.
This is a hands‑on, site‑based role working across complex mechanical equipment in a demanding industrial setting.
Key Responsibilities
* Respond to mechanical plant breakdowns, diagnosing faults and carrying out effective repairs
* Carry out planned and preventative maintenance activities in line with the site CMMS schedule
* Accurately record all maintenance activities within the computerised maintenance management system (CMMS)
* Support ongoing equipment reliability improvements, including fault finding, root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities
* Work safely at all times, adhering to permit‑to‑work and lock‑out/tag‑out procedures
* Collaborate closely with mechanical and electrical colleagues to maintain overall plant performance
* Contribute to site targets relating to EHS, quality and operational efficiency
Essential Experience & Skills
* Proven heavy‑duty mechanical maintenance experience within an industrial environment
* Background working on process plant equipment, ideally within chemical, process, oil & gas, or similar manufacturing environments
* Completed a recognised mechanical apprenticeship (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
* Strong understanding of health & safety within a high‑hazard or regulated site
* Experience using CMMS systems (e.g. SAP PM or similar)
* Confident working independently on mechanical faults and preventative maintenance tasks
Desirable
* Previous experience in chemical or process manufacturing plants
* Exposure to reliability improvement techniques such as RCA or FMEA
