Location: Guildford, Surrey Contract: Full-time or Part-time considered Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, term-time only Start Date: As soon as possible School Type: Primary (with some SEN needs across year groups).
⭐ About the Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a central role in supporting pupils’ learning, emotional wellbeing, and personal development. The role involves working both in the classroom and on a one-to-one or small-group basis with pupils who require additional support.
Daily responsibilities include:
1. Supporting pupils with their learning across all curriculum areas
2. Working one-to-one with children who may have additional needs such as ASD, ADHD, Speech & Language difficulties, SEMH needs, or academic delay
3. Leading or assisting with small-group interventions (phonics, reading, math’s boosters, social skills groups)
4. Helping to create a positive, calm and purposeful learning environment
5. Supporting behaviour management using positive strategies
6. Preparing resources, assisting with displays, and helping the class teacher with classroom organisation
7. Supervising pupils during transitions, break, and lunchtime
8. Recording observations, feeding back to teachers, and contributing to pupil progress discussions

9. Passionate about supporting children’s development
10. Patient, calm, and able to form strong, positive relationships with pupils
11. A good communicator who can work effectively as part of a team
12. Reliable, enthusiastic, and willing to learn new skills
13. Able to follow instructions but also use initiative
14. Confident with English and Maths (GCSE grade C/4 or above)
Desirable experience:
15. Previous experience working with children or young people
16. Knowledge of SEND (particularly ASD, ADHD, SEMH, Speech & Language)
17. Experience with behaviour management strategies
18. Familiarity with phonics programmes such as Little Wandle
19. Understanding of EHCPs and personalised learning plans
